| L. Hamilton - "A Stroke of Midnight". (English audio-book. Mp3) Posted: 11 Sep 2009 12:22 PM PDT Laurell Hamilton | ISBN-10: 0345443608 | 2005 | English | MP3 (96kb/s) | 570 Mb This fascinating audiobook should carry a parental warning about sexually explicit content. A fairy princess uses detective skills she learned while with the Los Angeles Police to investigate a double homicide in Fairyland. Seriously, Fairyland. Author Laurell K. Hamilton pulls it off, largely because of the skills of performer Laural Merlington, who brings the characters to sensuous life. Her breathy, lengthy (all of Disc 11) descriptions of orgies between Princess Meredith and her stable of lovers manage to be erotic and somehow respectable. When Merlington gives voice to burly characters like Killing Frost and Darkness, she continues her convincing performance. Read by Laural Merlington. |

| H. S. Thompson - "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas". (Mp3 audiobook) Posted: 11 Sep 2009 09:54 AM PDT Hunter S. Thompson | ISBN-10: 0679785892 | 2001 | English | MP3 (192 kb/s) | 106 Mb Heralded as the "best book on the dope decade" by the New York Times Book Review, Hunter S. Thompson's documented drug orgy through Las Vegas would no doubt leave Nancy Reagan blushing and D.A.R.E. founders rethinking their motto. Under the pseudonym of Raoul Duke, Thompson travels with his Samoan attorney, Dr. Gonzo, in a souped-up convertible dubbed the "Great Red Shark." In its trunk, they stow "two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half-full of cocaine and a whole galaxy of multicolored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers.... A quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of Budweiser, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls," which they manage to consume during their short tour. Read by Ron McLarty. |
