SAIL Placement Paper

Steel Authority of India Limited or SAIL is one of the largest steel making companies of India. The company produces both special and basic type of iron and steel products for various purposes like power, engineering, construction, automotive, defense and railways industries. The company also produces products for export. SAIL is a totally integrated steel product manufacturer. The ownership of about 86% of the equity of SAIL is in the hands of the Government of India. Thus the voting control of SAIL is retained by the Government. SAIL also has ‘Navratna’ status so it has financial and operational autonomy to a great extent.

SAIL recruits students from various fields. The pattern for Placement Paper for Technical Posts is given below. There is a written test and a personal interview. The written test comprises of the following five sections:

1. Technical Questions (100)
2. Reasoning and Mental Ability
3. General Knowledge
4. Quantitative Aptitude
5. Vocabulary

The number of questions in the exam is not fixed. It varies year to year. However the number of sections and the time allotted is always the same. The time duration of the written test is 2 hours 30 minutes. Apart from the overall cut off there will be sectional cut offs also.
