The H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology is the largest academic program of its kind in the United States. The Industrial Engineering program has been ranked as the number one graduate program in 19 out of the last 20 years (U.S. News and World Report). An admitted doctoral student in the Stewart School can pursue one of five specializations for the Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering:

UC Berkeley's College of Engineering was rated third among the top schools nationwide, following MIT and Stanford, according to the U.S. News & World Report graduate rankings 2010. Its Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering was ranked 2nd in the country. The Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research (IEOR) at UC Berkeley offers two doctoral degrees: PhD in IEOR and D.Eng in IE.
