Brazil Passport Information Guide

If you need to obtain a Brazilian passport, than you need to get it through the Brazilian Federal Police or Consulate General’s Office. It is issued by the Brazilian government. A Brazilian passport is used for

traveling in other countries outside of Brazil. These passports are good for five years after they are issued. They are not renewable. You have to get a new one before it expires. Some countries that you do not need a passport are Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina. To go to these countries you will just need an ID card.

You can get an application for a Brazilian passport on the internet. This is the only way they are issued now. Just fill out the information that is asked online on the form and then print the form out and then pay the fee that is asked. You may need an appointment to get the new passport and that can be done online also. When you have an appointment then you go to the Federal Police station that you are assigned to and then take a photograph right then. Then you will get your passport within a week. They are usually ready fast. You cannot pay to get it any faster. You have to be at the Federal Police office yourself and you have to be there yourself when you go to pick up the passport. If you have health issues that prevent this then you need to make arrangements with them first.

The cost of the passport is R$156.07 and R$89.71 for the new type of passport. This money is paid at the Brazilian bank and even can be paid on the internet. The passport will take a few days to process. They have to inspect that you documents that you submitted are valid and that you have not been convicted of crimes. If you have been convicted then your situation needs to be considered to see if you should be allowed to have a passport. You normally will not be issued a passport if you are a convict.

You will need specific documents when you are applying for a passport. You will need an ID that was issued by a Brazilian state. You also need a voter registration card that shows that you have voted in the last election. An application form, receipt of payment and an income tax registration certificate (CPF) will also be needed.

So when you are planning on traveling outside of Brazil and you are a Brazilian citizen then you will need to obtain a passport for yourself. Figure out what documents that you will need and if any are needed that you do not have then go and get them. This may take some time so plan ahead accordingly. Most people already do have the proper documents, though. Also, make sure that you can afford the passport application fee so you don’t get through the process and then can’t move forward. All in all- a Brazilian passport is easy to get.
