According to the US News & World Report rankings of best engineering programs, the Top 10 Undergraduate Engineering Programs in the nation (Best Colleges 2009) are as follows:
1 Massachusetts Institute of Technology
2 Stanford University
2 University of California--Berkeley
4 California Institute of Technology
4 Georgia Institute of Technology
4 University of Illinois--Urbana-Champaign
7 University of Michigan--Ann Arbor
8 Cornell University
9 Carnegie Mellon University
9 Purdue University--West Lafayette
MIT, Stanford and UC Berkeley are consistently ranked among the Top 3 positions, they remained in the Top 3 nationally as in 2008 rankings. Cornell University dropped a place form 7th to 8th.
In the ranking of Top Graduate Engineering programs (2010), MIT is also rated No. 1 in the country, ahead of Stanford (2nd) and UC Berkeley (3rd).
A total of eight schools is ranked in the Top 10 list for both their undergarduate and graduate engineering programs: MIT, Stanford, UC-Berkeley, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Carnegie Mellon, Caltech, and Michigan.
