What are the best medical schools in the US? According to the 2010 US Medical Schol Rankings, the best medical school based on Primary Care is University of Washington Seattle, followed by U of North Carolina--Chapel Hill (2nd position) and Oregon Health and Science Univ (3rd position).

For the research rankings of medical schools, Harvard took the top spot, ahead of Johns Hopkins University (2nd) and University of Pennsylvania (3rd).

What are the best medical schools in the UK? According to the Times Subject League Table 2010, Oxford is the best ranked institution for Medicine, followed by Cambridge (2nd) and Edinburgh (3rd). Scottish universities dominate the Top 10 list, with 5 schools ranked among the 10 best schools for medicine:

  • Edinburgh (3rd)
  • Aberdeen (4th)
  • Glasgow (=7th)
  • Dundee (=7th)
  • St Andrews (10th)
Oxford is also rated top for Medicine in the Guardian University Guide 2010, with Cambridge in 2nd position and Edinburgh in 3rd position (the Top 3 positions here are the same as that ranked by The Times). The rest of the top 10 is made up of Dundee (4th), UCL (5th), UEA (6th), Imperial (7th), Leicester (8th), Aberdeen (=9th) and Glasgow (=9th).
