AFMC MBBS 2010

Armed Forces Medical College(AFMC) is a premier institute for medical education in the country. AFMC is managed by Indian armed forces. It was established in 1948 at Pune as a postgraduate training and research centre. MBBS was started in 1962. Every year a large number of students appear for AFMC MBBS Entrance exam and the competition is really tough. Students doing their MBBS from AFMC are liable to serve atleast 7 years in the armed forces.

AFMC is affiliated to Maharashtra University of Health Science. After doing MBBS from AFMC candidates can be assured of service in the armed forces medical department. The entire fees for education is sponsered by Ministry of Defence including Hostel accomodation and students are also given allowances for food, railway journey, books, uniform etc. AFMC is a fully residential campus with best of facilities, infrastructure and faculty.

Availability of forms for AFMC MBBS 2010

Application forms will be available in the designated post offices across the country. The application form can also be obtained by sending a request for the form to AFMC along with a demand draft.

Important Dates(Tentative):

Date of Entrance Examination: May 1st week, 2010

Availability of application forms: December 3rd week, 2009-January End, 2010

Announcement of Results: End May, 2010

Interviews: June, 2010

Eligibility criteria:

A candidate must have attained at age of 17 years before 31st December, 2010 and should not be more than 22 years on 31st December, 2010. Besides a candidates should not be married and cannot marry even during the course. Also a candidates should be medically fit according to the specified standards.

Candidates should have passed all the subjects in the first attempt of qualifying examination and should have secured atleast 60% marks in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Biology and atleast 50% in each of these subjects individually and also in English.

Method of selection:

Candidates have to first give a written test. The syllabus of the written test will be same as 11th and 12th Syllabus. Those who clear the written test will be called for interviews and medical test at a later stage.
